IDG is a new capital marketplace that is collapsing transaction costs for businesses requiring investments in the MSME segments by improving entrepreneurs interaction with VC’s and a growing class of international and angel investor. IDG provides entrepreneurs with a targeted collection of resources, access to mentors and experts and connection to the right investors.
HOW DID WE START?
Client approached Think Design for designing the user interface and clarify the look & feel of the existing application with strong emphasis on usability and help them to carry forward with design.
Project started with a thorough usability audit to find usability bottle necks in terms of task flow analysis, navigation, terminology, design and overall user experiences.
- Four to five level navigation, which was difficult to remember for any user.
- There was no clear visual cues separating links, buttons, tabs and other UI elements from each other.
- Poor help/hint text for user. Terminology used in the application was not familiar and generic.
- Navigation was not consistent across the application.
- Cluttered look and feel of overall application.
- No clear communication for whom this application was meant for.
DESIGN SOLUTION
With Intuitive navigation and beautified look & feel, an impressive user experience was designed.
Here’s how we fixed the problems and achieved the best output and client satisfaction.
To start the design, we first developed user profiles of the investor, entrepreneur and mentors, which helped us in grouping the features and functions accordingly. Based on user profiles and workflows, navigation was defined. Scenarios were defined followed by concept sketches and wireframes. Wireframes helped the stakeholders in understanding the application flow and user experience. After back and forth user testing, the navigation was frozen.
Since the complex task (navigation) was frozen, we developed high-fidelity mockups, explaining the flow including other UI elements and exception.
The final task of designing the interface look & feel was done, visual designs of all the screens, icons, error messages, dialogs were designed and arranged as per the flow.
Design team coordinated continuously with development team to ensure pixel perfect implementation of design. Think Design team also provided UI guidelines for developers in order to maintain design consistency at the time of development
