FMCG Packaging - silk n shine

Marico is a leading Indian Group in Consumer Products & Services in the Global Beauty and Wellness space. Taking the success of one of its most reputed brands, Parachute further, Marico decided to launch a more premium hair care product in 2003. However, few early entrants in this category (anti-frizz) already cluttered the market with products and promotions.

Marico faced a unique challenge then: To make their product seem more premium than competition (through packaging design) and at the same time, achieve higher value perception by making the product look larger than competition. With the brief, Think Design conceptualized unique approches to the challenge.

Think Design proposed to achieve feminine overtone through forms with a “cosmetic” touch. Further, taller height was proposed to be achieved by reducing volume significantly at the “waisst”. As a result, our design was actually much taller than competitor’s products of same volume. The design significantly improved the way users looked at Marico products: The product now started occupying space on dressing tables aganist bathrooms previously
