RESEARCH METHODOLOGIES

Think Design broadly classifies its activities into Research for Design, Research about Design and Research through Design.

Research for Design, popularly known as Design Research is a combination of processes like ethnography, PAPI, CLT, Personas, Focus groups, CFM Research etc., Think Design works by working out the right combination of processes to realize objectives of research exercise.

Research about Design is a methodology that helps understand background, stereotypes and mindsets of users by understanding background of design in history over a specific span (boundaries are however, fuzzy). It may involve deep digging into history of art, design and fashion studied and analyzed over a wide span of time. The process is highly analytical and need expertise in understanding and relating various cultures that are being studied.

Research through Design is a relatively new methodology, but proven to generate reliable information. Various processes involved could be Focus groups, Participatory Design, CLT Research etc., Objective of this activity is to test concepts by directly interfacing with target groups. It is very critical to follow stringent recruitment processes in order to obtain reliable information.
